The Academy Associate Director – Lower School will support Academy students’ growth and development through expert dance instruction and thoughtful administration. An experienced professional in the teaching of students ages 3 – 12, the Academy Associate Director – Lower School will serve as an integral part of Charlotte Ballet Academy’s leadership team.

The Academy Associate Director – Lower School will report to the Charlotte Ballet Academy Director.

Job Description

• Teaching ballet to students in the Academy’s Preparatory, Primary, and Intermediate Division levels,
• Providing basic and clear movement demonstration, as well as clear verbal direction,
• Choreography and coaching for School Year and Summer classes as assigned,
• In partnership with the Academy Director, overseeing, developing, and implementing curriculum for Preparatory, Primary, and Intermediate Division levels (students ages 3 – 12),
• Produce bi-annual written evaluations on student progress,
• Overseeing, developing, and/or evaluating of Academy ballet exams as assigned,
• Teaching and adjudicating auditions and placement classes in Charlotte and other National Audition Tour locations,
• Administration and rehearsal for children’s roles in professional company productions.

Requirements

Education, Qualifications, and Competencies

• BA or BFA in Dance, Dance Education, Dance Performance, or equivalent experience,
• Five years or more of teaching experience with ballet concentration for students ages 3 – 12,
• Professional dance performance experience preferred,
• Additional experience in school administration or business administration.
