The Donor Engagement Manager will be responsible for cultivating, developing, and overseeing relationships with existing donors and new prospects with a focus on securing gifts in support of Charlotte Ballet’s strategic objectives. The position will be responsible for qualifying, cultivating, and soliciting prospective donors through researching our donor pipeline as well as our existing audience population. The position report to and works closely with the Director of Philanthropy and External Relations to create and manage a comprehensive strategy to meet revenue goals for individual contributions.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Fundraising - 50%

· Plan and implement strategic, segmented individual giving campaign, supporting both annual giving and 50th Anniversary opportunities.

· Identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward new donor prospects. Provide strategic recommendations to Charlotte Ballet staff and others in designing and implementing programs needed to sustain major gift support.

· Support Director of Philanthropy in preparing solicitation materials including introductory letters, proposals, informational packets, final reports and other mailings/correspondence

· In partnership with Special Events Manager, create cultivation plans that leverage Charlotte Ballet’s significant special events supporters and motivate successful conversion from attendees/sponsors into annual donors

· In consultation with the Director of Philanthropy and External Relations, annually establish personal goals, objectives, and strategies for fundraising, and regularly assess progress toward goals.

Discovery - 25%

· Lead and create, in collaboration with Development staff and volunteers, strategic “discovery” activities including, but not limited, to targeted events for prospective donors. Activities for the portfolio will allow for prospect qualification and follow-up solicitation.

· Through research and analysis, build and manage a portfolio of prospective new individual donors. Proactively reach out to qualify leads through cold calls and emails. Solicit individual prospective donors, when appropriate, and qualify major gift prospects to proactively cultivate for additional future gifts.

· Professionally and clearly articulate Charlotte Ballet’s vision and funding priorities verbally and in writing to prospects and donors.

· Responsible for core fundraising metrics including donor retention, early prospect outreach (cold calling), face-to-face visits (if applicable), identification of new prospects, growth in cumulative giving, dollars raised, and donors secured.

Marketing and Communications - 15%

· In partnership with the Patron Engagement Manager, coordinate appeal mailings, marketing/development materials and donor stewardship communications,

· Monitor the use of agency brand in partnership agreements and update Charlotte Ballet’s profiles on various third-party websites,

Reporting/Analytics/Administration - 10%

· Manage the Data Center, track and report fundraising metrics to the Director of Philanthropy and External Relations, and producing reports for the Ballet organization.

· Ensure proper stewardship and recognition of donors.



Requirements

Education Level and Focus:    Bachelors Degree, Marketing; Communications; Business


Years and Type of Related Experience Required:    2-3 Years 


Professional/Technical Competencies  

•    2-3 years’ experience in a not-for-profit organization, fundraising experience strongly preferred,
•    Superior communication skills with emphasis on persuasive speaking and writing,
•    Fluent in all Microsoft Office applications,
•    Experience with Donor or Fundraising software; Raiser’s Edge a plus, 
•    Ability to create and deliver presentations in individual and group settings,
•    Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously while delivering on multiple staggered deadlines,
•    Superior organization and follow up skills,
•    Ability to effectively partner with all levels of the organization
